Ingredients
- 8 slices soft white sandwich bread
- 3 tablespoons Nutella or substitute with nut butter, cookie butter, jam, or apple pie filling
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for greasing the pan
- Maple syrup for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread
- Trim the crusts from the bread slices.
- Flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
- Add Filling
- Spread a heaping teaspoon of your chosen filling about an inch from one end of each slice.
- Roll up the bread tightly and repeat with the remaining slices.
- Prepare Coatings
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
- In another shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
- Cook the Rolls
- Heat a griddle or large sauté pan over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Dip each roll into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on the griddle and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Add more butter to the pan as needed for subsequent batches.
- Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
- While still warm, roll the cooked rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess.
- Serve
- Serve immediately with maple syrup, if desired.
