Ingredients
  • 8 slices soft white sandwich bread
  • 3 tablespoons Nutella or substitute with nut butter, cookie butter, jam, or apple pie filling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for greasing the pan
  • Maple syrup for serving (optional)
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Bread
  2. Trim the crusts from the bread slices.
  3. Flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
  4. Add Filling
  5. Spread a heaping teaspoon of your chosen filling about an inch from one end of each slice.
  6. Roll up the bread tightly and repeat with the remaining slices.
  7. Prepare Coatings
  8. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
  9. In another shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  10. Cook the Rolls
  11. Heat a griddle or large sauté pan over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  12. Dip each roll into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  13. Place the rolls seam-side down on the griddle and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  14. Add more butter to the pan as needed for subsequent batches.
  15. Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
  16. While still warm, roll the cooked rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess.
