Homemade Vanilla French Beignets

Fluffy and light French pastries with a delightful vanilla flavor, deep-fried to golden perfection. It’s the perfect sweet treat for any time of the day.

Ingredients list:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • One tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • One tablespoon of granulated sugar
  • One large egg
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Two tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable oil works well)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:
  1. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, vanilla extract, milk, and melted butter together until smooth.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until the dough comes together. The dough should be soft but not too sticky.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). You’ll want enough oil to submerge the beignets halfway.
  5. Fry the Beignets: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and gently drop them into the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed.
  6. Drain and Dust: Remove the beignets from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Dust with powdered sugar while they are still warm.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite coffee or a fresh cup of hot chocolate!
